I2 got hooked on U2. Drove all the way to San Fran from Seattle to see the lads from Dublin. Tickets were $15 and that was my admission for a festival spot on the floor. U2 played with so much emotion, Bono waving an Irish flag, a Fan coming up on stage to play guitar during one of the songs (Bono, Edge and Adam all left the stage for the Fan and Larry), Bono wore someone's red plaid shirt, Bono dancing with a female fan, Fans throwing their shoes onstage after Bono pro- claimed, "There's no business like Shoe business." "Knocking on Heavens Door" and "40" were filled with so much audience participation from The Cow Palace that it gave Mr. Hewson a chance to catch his breath. But, the single most vivid memory of that show will always be the simplicity of the U2 stage that was coupled with the most energetic live performance by a Rock Band!! Still have photos from the show too.
