Speechless!

That's the only way I can describe how I felt on Saturday. What a day, what a performance! Our day started very early on Saturday in Montana, and after nine hours of diving - through bad roads in some areas - we arrived in Salt Lake City to see U2.

Kanye West opened, and was very good. It was a refreshing removal from a usual U2 opening act. From where we were, it seemed like Kanye was well received by the Delta Center crowd. But when the main event began with Arcade Fire's "Wake Up" and the opening chords of "City of Blinding Lights", the place was transformed.

It was great hearing "I Still Haven't Found..." and "Original of the Species" played so beautifully. "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and "Bullet the Blue Sky" were extremely passionate, and the Pride/Streets/One sequence blew the roof off. The encores were highlighted by "Until the End of the World", "Mysterious Ways", "With or Without You" and "Yahweh". I don't know if I've ever heard an arena so loud. Now I know why the Jazz have such a great home court advantage (when they actually have a good team).

I saw U2 in April at the beginning of the tour in Denver, and I can say without a doubt that this show was MUCH better. The tour hadn't gained its momentum yet in Denver. In Salt Lake, U2 was in perfect form. It was a flawless performance.

Seeing U2 in concert is something everyone should do at least once. It's hard to believe the U.S. portion of Vertigo is over. I don't know if I can wait another few years to see them again! But thank you very much, U2, for your efforts on Dec. 17, 2005. It won't be forgotten anytime soon.
