U2 Tours (formerly part of AtU2): A Comprehensive Guide To U2’s Live Performance History

by Jim P.

I was sitting around bored yesterday and I thought why not go to the U2 concer,t but since it was the last minute I thought no chance of getting tickets. But, since I had nothing to do anyway, I started calling local ticket agencies; I called 5 places, no luck at all, and I was only looking for a single ticket. I kept calling and a place did have tickets but they were 225 apiece. Of course I said no at first because for 200 I can spend a weekend at the shore.
Then I thought well I was going to spend 200 on my credit card for a
class anyway, and if I go to the concert and spend the money it might help
motivate me to do my best in the class. My logic is brillant when I want to
spend outrageous money on something as useless and pointless as concert
tickets. And of course I knew after watching that half time show of the NBA
finals if I missed U2 and they didn't tour again or something I would regret
it the rest of my life.
So I called them back and decided I would allow myself to get ripped
off this once for the sake of getting out and enjoying one of my favorite
bands. When I got the ticket it said side view, I thought great, I just got
screwed not only did I pay a ridicilous some of money I am not even going to
see the stage.
I took the train into Philly and I got there just in time to catch the end of PJ Harvey, they were ok but it turned out I was wrong about my seat; I did have a side view six rows from the side of the stage, I got to see them enter and I could have spit on Edge anytime during the concert, Bono was also 10- 12 yards away when he would walk out on to the platform (stage right).
Now, I thought the whole time that the concert prolly wasn't going to
be worth it, they would do a generic set around their new album and it would
be so comercial it just wouldn't sit well with me or something. When you
shell out that kind of dough your always worried about something, 225$ is a
lot esp for a concert.
As for the actual concert, I have never and prolly will never see a
band in concert like U2 again (unless they actually tour). I don't know what
it would be like to see The Doors (with Jim Morrison), Led Zepplin or The
Beatles in Concert but I don't need to I got mine last night. I am not
exaggerating dude I had chills the whole concert, U2 is absolutly my favorite
band and I doubt anyone will be able to overtake that(yes I like them more
then the counting crows even). I actually cried (I am not joking and if you
tell anyone I'll kill you) during New Year's Day and Sunday Bloody Sunday, it
was just that damn good. Words can not even come close to explaining how
blown away I was. I sat in my seat for a good fifteen minutes after the
concert, I was stunned. I don't care what you have to do, go to the concert, don't miss this!!!!!!!! I would go see them in concert a million times if I could afford it. Even if they played the exact same set over and over, I would go see them and prolly get something different out of every show. It was amazing, again I say don't miss this.
Did I mention I had chills during the entire concert?
It was beyond the best concert I have ever seen, they were so good,
Edge was awesome, Bono as always; and the energy coming off these
guys I can't explain it, amazing... amazing.
So now it is official, U2 rules, and should Rule the entire world with songs and poetry and guitars of fire.
Anyway here is the set list that they did the 2nd night in philly
with little added comments by me
