This was, quite simply, the best live gig I have ever seen. To begin with Starsailor played a great set and really got into the event even though the seats in"the gods" were still half empty at this point. The Killers were equally impressive, with a good sound and a brilliant set, and by now the crowd were filling the stadium.
Then U2 came on stage without any fuss and got straight into Vertig. The whole stadium erupted and sang along with Bono. The sound was awesome and the stage seeting was superb, I particularly liked the Human Rights articles being displayed as it gave a poignancy to the event and the causes Bono was championing.
My personal favourites were "Elevation" "All I want is You" and "Still haven't found..". It was also good to see Larry Mullen bringing his drums to the end of the Walkway to play, and also to to see Bono adding his own style of drumming at the end!!
Bono is almost messiah-like in his total control of the crowd, yet the gig did not feel like a stadium gig, it was far more personal I felt like part of a close community rather than one of 60,000 fans. Not just a gig, a real occasion and one I was proud and glad to be part of.
