For whatever reason, tickets for this show do not sell as well as others on the tour. As fans arrive at the stadium, they notice many sections completely blocked off by tarps. And before the show begins, fans in some upper sections are reassigned to better seats in the lower levels closer to the stage.
Mother Nature doesn't care about any of that, and she delivers a beautiful rainbow behind the stage just moments before U2 takes the stage. "A Sort Of Homecoming" is on the printed setlist as the third song, but the band calls an audible and plays "Bad" instead. After "Red Hill Mining Town," Bono gives his now common "welcome to side two" speech, but tonight adds a good one-liner: "If this was Rattle And Hum, it would be a very long night!"
After "Elevation," Bono praises longtime crew member Jake Berry as "the man who builds this tour, this stage." He tells the audience that today is Jake's birthday and leads the crowd in singing "Happy Birthday."
