U2 plays its first show in Indianapolis since May 10, 2001, on the Elevation tour. This is the city where U2's alter egos, The Dalton Brothers, first their first public appearance as U2's opening act on November 1, 1987. Bono wishes The Daltons a happy anniversary as the band is playing "Trip Through Your Wires" and tries to remember each band member's Dalton name afterward. He references the Daltons again after "Vertigo," telling the crowd that if they didn't see the Daltons, "you didn't miss anything, but we looked great."
During "Pride," Bono makes his usual references to Martin Luther King, but tonight adds a special, local touch: He quotes the "love, wisdom and compassion" section of Senator Robert F. Kennedy's speech in Indianapolis in 1968 announcing MLK's assassination.
After rehearsing the song a handful of times in the afternoon, U2 plays the tour debut of its new single, "You're The Best Thing About Me." Bono introduces it as "a proper rock 'n' roll 45 like they used to do." While the band plays, the screen shows the same multi-color inkblot visuals that were used when the song premiered on The Tonight Show three nights earlier.
The show ends with "One," which has a fairly extended snippet of "Drowning Man."
