U2 Concert Review: Norman, OK

After leaving the Dallas show with mixed feeling about the sound and the energy level, I was hopeful my experience in Norman would help me feel better. Entering the Stadium I was amazed to see that they had a tarp over the upper decks of the stadium. I guess being Texas-OU weekend hurt sales a little. Once we reached our seats I could tell there was a much better energy in the crowd than in Dallas. My only remaining concern was the weather, but even that didn't get me down.
I admit I was pretty stoked to see the Black Eyed Peas, and they did not disappoint. They worked hard with a crowd that wasn't theirs, and earned a few fans, and probably a few album sales. Their energy and enthusiasm was a perfect lead in to the main event. My only complaints would be the obvious pandering to the crowd with the excessive yelling out of "Oklahoma!" to ellicit cheers, and the couple of times when there was some feedback.
Once the lights went out for U2, the crowd was standing and ready to go, and they did not stop. This time around I felt like the band was little more into it. Bono and the crowd had a good rapport.
All in all I think this show blew the Dallas one away. The sound was a million times better, the band seemd more engaged, and I didn't have a giant tv blocking part of my view.
Good job guys, you reaffirmed why you are the World's Greatest Rock Band.
