With Bono's public appearances out of the way (he was at Alicia Keys' wedding in Corsica on Saturday), the whole band got together on Sunday for rehearsals -- and, best of all for fans around the world, they rehearsed outside at Olympic Stadium rather than indoors at the Olympic Sports Hall. Other than Bono's arrival, the two biggest pieces of news are probably these:
1.) Both U2place.com and U2Italia.com say that a new song was rehearsed. Update: Here it is from YouTube:
2.) U2 rehearsed "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" today, too. That song hasn't been performed live since March 21, 1998 -- the final show of the PopMart Tour. Here's a video shot outside the stadium.
If you need proof that any of this is the band, not their techs, here's a photo taken by Cristian Bernardinelli -- one of three you can see on U2market.com.
According to fans outside the stadium and the Italian fan sites referenced above, U2's Sunday rehearsals included the following songs (not sure if the order below is correct):
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
New Year's Day (solo riff)
Gone (intro)
Where The Streets Have No Name
One Day Like This (cover/snippet of Elbow song) - Beautiful Day
Beautiful Day (snippet?)
Magnificent
Soon - Moment of Surrender
Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me
New Year's Day
Get On Your Boots
Beautiful Day (again)
Magnificent
Get On Your Boots
Mysterious Ways
I Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For (cover/snippet: Many Rivers To Cross)
NEW SONG (tried two times)
Miss Sarajevo
That seems to be it for Sunday. Well, there's also this: Willie Williams posted a video on YouTube documenting his flight from London to Turin on July 26.
