Comments:

John Lennon's version of "Stand By Me" is used as the intro music for every show of the tour, until the fall leg when The Beatles' "All You Need Is Love" replaces it for the remainder of the tour.

"With Or Without You" is performed for the first time and with it, Bono adds a new additional lyric at the end of the song:

"We'll shine like stars in the summer night.

We'll shine like stars in the summer night.

One heart, one home, one tune, one night.

We'll shine like stars in the summer night.

We'll shine like stars in the summer night."

This new lyric, often paired with a snippet of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart," will be added many times over the years with the lines varying or altered to fit the occassion. Now a fan favorite and often requested, it has simply become known as "Shine Like Stars."

Bono invites a fan on stage to play guitar during the last song, "People Get Ready." As the fan plays on, a Time magazine photographer takes pictures of the band with the crowd as a background. This can been seen during the Outside It's America documentary, chronicling U2's spring leg of the Joshua Tree tour. Bono adds an unknown line towards the end of "People Get Ready" singing, "my soul comes shining through."
