Comments:

U2 play a rare show on New Years Eve at the turn of the decade and celebrate by broadcasting it live on the radio across Europe. The band include a cassette cover, for fans who taped the show, in the next issue of Propaganda. An edited version of the show is officially released 15 years later as part of the iTunes Complete U2 digital box set.

The show starts just before midnight, and the opening is broadcast on RTÉ television. As "Where The Streets Have No Name" begins, Irish DJ, Dave Fanning helps the crowd countdown to the new year. After which, U2 start "Streets" with a snippet of "Auld Lang Syne." The Edge snippets "11 O'Clock Tick Tock" again, during "Bullet The Blue Sky."
