Wow! I can hardly hear out of one year, and its not because of the band, it’s from all the LOUD South Floridians. As some of the other reviewers indicated from last night's concert, it was definitely very loud. I attended two Elevation shows in South Florida and neither were as loud, which made the atmosphere very special . Having this be my first Vertigo concert I was surprised by the stage design. The lighting was cool, and the beaded drapes were truly amazing. My fiancée was really fascinated by the beaded drapes, she kept on asking "how did do they that?" Which was nice to hear from her since she's not a big concert goer unless I drag her, but she had been looking forward to the show, since she attended both Elevation shows with me. We also noticed there was a monitor by Bono's area, where you could see which song was going to be played next (we were sitting lower lever in the corner between Adam & Larry). So when the current song finished she could read the text for the next song (she has better vision due to her contacts). Overall, audience participation was great!
Here are my pro and cons from the show:
Pros:
- I liked the political themes (something lacked from Elevation and Popmart). Especially the images that appear on beaded drapes.
- Nice to hear MW and UTEOTW back in the set
- SIAMYCGOO and WGRYH were both acoustically great
- Bono's vocals during Miss Sarajevo was awesome. The audience gave him a HUGE cheer after he nailed the Italian verse.
Cons:
- The lighting during Streets. WTF?? How can you NOT turn on all the lights? I don't count putting the lights on after the extended chorus. This was something I loved during the Elevation seeing the audience going crazy with the lights ON.
- The lack of monitors/visuals compared to previous tours. As much as I liked the beaded lights, they at times impaired my vision of the band. Perhaps with frontal stage view for the second Miami concert might change my opinion.
My only personal wish would have been to hear AIWIY live with my fiancée. This is our wedding song (wedding is on Nov. 25), so it would have been nice to hear live. Overall, an awesome concert. I wish I could have attended more, but weddings can be costly. I'll see you tonight...
