Just back home in DC from Charlotte and wanted to add a tidbit regarding the setlist. We got copies of the set list and U2 had planned to play "Instant Karma" before "40" but didn't.
U2 came on at 8:45 and I assume had to be done by a certain time as there is a basketball game scheduled today.
Charlotte was the last of my 10 shows and I now am suffering from withdrawal. We had GA and decided to wait in line all day - not to dis Charlotte, but there really wasn't anything interesting to do so we decided to wait in line - my first for this tour. And amazingly we scanned into the Ellipse - 7 out of 7 for our GA shows (incredible luck!) - and were able to get in the front rail between Bono and the Edge. So, from that viewpoint, it's hard to be objective about the show. Hearing "Gloria" was a highlight for me as well as seeing a bit different staging of "Until the End of the World". Bono chased the Edge around the Ellipse and they finished the song behind Larry. I was hoping they'd do "Christmas, Baby Please Come Home". But with the exception of a local bartender (we met him later at The Breakfast Club) throwing a Santa hat up to Bono - and Bono briefing bringing him up on the catwalk, not really any Christmas references.
My experience with seats has been very similiar to JCs post above. I had seats for 3 shows and found the constant loud talking by others to be really annoying, along with the frequent beer/potty runs, and requests to sit down even during the really rocking songs. Give me the floor anyday!
