In leaving my house to make the 4 1/2 hour drive to Detroit with my good friend Jen at midnight CST on the 30th, we both knew that the day to come might be described as "Beautiful" =). Boy, were we right. Outside in a line for 13 hours in the cold is fun you might ask? YES! Of course it is when you're waiting to get into the heart to see the finest, most emotional, most in tune band of our time. Blown away, I was simply, again, blown away. Whether Bono was looking at me in the front row smiling, or The Edge was shaking my hand at the end of the show, it was easily one of the most spiritual times of my life. I'll give some highlights and leave it at that:

* The Edge busts a string on his Rickenbacker and just keeps on playing.

* Bono gives us a talk about Amnesty Int., a day after I'd just joined. =)

* Bono thanks the U2 security, who are from Detroit and tells us they are there to keep us (the crowd) safe. Then, in speaking about the band, he says, "'Cause we don't need no protection!"

* Sings a bit of "The Real Slim Shady" for the Detroit crowd.

There's not enough I can say about the show... I'm still in awe, and probably will be for some time. I've got to go ahead and admit, that I'll have a hard time going to see any concert besides U2, because in Detroit my friends, you could FEEL the music.
