Upon arrival at the Palace of Auburn Hills at 4 a.m., I was immediately elevated four feet off the ground. At 7 a.m., I and my mates took our position in the GA line just south of Camp Sleepingbags. I would like to give props to those who provided soulful U2 music with portable CD players throughout the GA line. I would also like to send out a big "no thanks" to those radio stations who showed up in the afternoon to drown out those soulful U2 tunes.
After an eleven-hour wait, the doors finally opened around 6 p.m. This was immediately followed by a chaotic distribution and signing of waivers which was fantastically unorganized. Note to Palace: Call the Target Center and ask them how they do it in Minneapolis.
Once in the heart, everything just seemed to be all right. Once again, PJ Harvey was a solid opener. When U2 hit the stage, I forgot my name. "In My Life" was a fantastic prelude to "Stuck in a Moment." What else can I say? Nothing. If you were there, you know what I mean. "Pride (in the name of love)" is still the best song ever. So is "Where the Streets Have No Name." And so is "Bad."
Bono, thanks for singing "Kite" to me.
Justin, better luck next time in Risk.
Nothing left to do but figure out how to go to another show.
