Sydney Nov 10 2006. 13 years ago I flew from Perth, the most isolated capital in the world to see U2 on my 25th birthday. Last Friday, the 10th of November, the most recent trip from Perth was rewarded with a great spot within the elipse.
The concert from that close is very different. It feels more personal without the massive impact of the screens as was so evident with Zooropa.
The first 2 songs in the rain made no difference, the lads didn't even raise an eyelid about it. It made the elipse even more intimate.
I loved the opening with "city" and also the energy in vertigo. I missed a few classics like mysterious ways and still haven't found but what I did like was how the old and the new mix so well like bullet the blue sky and love and peace, same message 20 years apart and still so relevant and so great live.
I've added some pics from 5 meters from the front. Thanks for my experience in the elipse, I'll never forget it.
