Well this has been a long wait. I have seen U2 on PoPMart, and four Elevation shows. Last night was right up with all of these and more. I have been fortunate enough to see many shows from Coldplay to Green Day and I have never heard any crowd react like that at the start of a show! It was deafening, the building felt like it was shaking and this is a crowd in Toronto!! We are usually a very reserved quiet crowd, not on this night.
It was great to hear songs like In a Little While and Fast Cars. I am not going to say I would like to hear this; I don’t want to hear that. Anything they play is great it does not matter. We were lucky enough to be inside the “Bomb Shelter” a great experience. Having been inside the heart twice on Elevation it felt somewhat familiar but with the main stage being circular this time around, they felt as though they were even closer then the last time we saw them in 2001. Seeing 40 played live for the first time (a full version of it at least) was incredible, Adam does need to work on his guitar a little bit he does not handle it as well as the bass.
Love and Peace, Sometimes and Miracle Drug were all excellent. Overall this was an awesome show we are very lucky to have seats for all the remaining shows in Toronto and I know with U2’s track record the remaining dates can only improve on what happened last night. As Bono said they are just getting started!
