What can I say? Wow! What a great show to kick off the third leg of the tour. Although I didn't make it into the ellipse, I was right along the railing on Edge's side just outside of it, where Bono spent much of his time on the ramp.
The whole show blew me away, but in particular when they started to play 'Miss Sarajevo', I lost it. When Bono started singing Pavarotti's part, and NAILED it, I got goosebumps, my heart leapt into my throat, I felt like I was having a panic attack and just...wow. It was amazing. I bawled like a baby.
Another surprise of the evening was the first time appearance of 'Fast Cars'. While many in the audience didn't know the song, the hardcore fans were going insane. What a great song live!! You could tell Bono was having fun singing it, too. I hope this becomes a staple in the set, because it's definitely a keeper.
'40'!! Nice to see '40' make a comeback. No more Vertigo x 2. The crowd loved it, of course, and sang 'how long...' for what felt like ages.
Great show -- probably the best one I've ever been to, and that's saying a lot. The only downside was that I didn't get to hear my all-time fave 'All I Want Is You'.
Cheers,
Carrie
