Great show last night! There were many highlights. U2 has such an immense catalog, that it would be tough to please everyone. Glad to see the return of Love and Peace... if your not playing new songs, it kind of makes it feel like a greatest hits show. Windw in the Sky and Saints are coming, I'm not big fans of. However, Window was more impressive live than on the record. Bad placement on those two songs. They are definetely not encore material. Wild Horses seemed kind of spontaneous, however, U2 is pretty good at "planning and planting" those sort of things. Bono was signalling the band and leading into the chorus and bridge, middle 8, so I don't know how much they practiced it ahead of time.
Of course, I was looking forward to seeing Kite or Bad or even an acoustic Stuck in the Moment or even walk on... First time was good, but slightly out of place. Pride is the U2 workhorse that just needs to be dropped. Missing the real lighting during Streets. The flags and such are bla bla.
Rocking in the Freeworld was amazing. Best version I've ever heard since watching Neil play it.
Oh, and during the end of All I want is You, what was with Larry's drum beat. Was he waiting for the crowd to start 40??? I started shouting it, but man, the crowd just didn't give it back to him!
All in all, Great show. Thanks guys for an incredible time in Dublin, Munich, and now finally Hawaii. Keep it up and can't wait for the next record. Get back with Brian Eno! Pop is your most underrated album!
Ross enjoying a beautiful Sunday in Hawaii...
