After following this band for 20 years (and 27 shows), I am content to say I saw my final show. I have gone from being a boy to being a man with U2.
My journey began May 11th, 1981 at Rainbow Music Hall in Denver, Colorado. I was a highschool underachiever with an afinity for REO Speedwagon and Styx. My whole life changed that night. Four very young men from Ireland put on a show that I still remember to this day.
Fastforward to Nov 16th, 2001... I am now a college grad; married to the sweetest thing; father of two awesome boys; and finally, after a lifetime working toward it, a man.
On this day I stoud in line for 10 hours to secure my place in the heart. The day itself was amazing! I played Monopoly, drank beer, remenised, watched "Surviror 3", and just communed with kindred spirits. It's a day I will never forget.
Once inside, I was witness to an increadible show. My highlights:
>"A Sort of Homecoming" Scott (a fan pulled from the audiance) rocked the house!
>"One" Bono reading the names of the victims of the 9-11 tragedy.
>The extended lyrics/show middle part of "I Will Follow"
>My final vision of U2... Bono walks off the stage and is just about to turn and go down the stage stairs and disappear for me for the final time, when he graps and stratches his butt! What an exit! Thank you U2 for an increadible 20 years, and helping take me from being a boy to being a man...
