Pulled two all-nighters freshman year at the UA and drove up passed the olive tree farm along I-10 and my allergies started exploding on themselves. Sinuses cleared as soon as the lightning boxes went off during the intro to Streets.
I hadn't really listened to the new stuff. Just wanted to hear New Year's Day (kept me going for 60 sleepless hours). I was blown away. Not by U2 but by the crowd. Some 13,000 people singing at the top of their lungs as Bono croaked like a bull frog.
I've heard that Bono has trouble singing in the desert Southwest because of HIS allergies. The Edge did a great job with Bullet the Blue Sky, I remember that song really standing out. Yet the crowd? Wow. This was also one of those shows that was an event people talked about on campus for days leading up to it and well after they left town.
