Anaheim, CA-The Pond was awash last night with a U2 Tsunami that rocked from start to finish despite a few boos from the spoiled OC crowd. What no encore? Yes no encore and who needs one anyway. The scrambling about on stage and slight hint of drama that surrounded the "do we keep playing or leave the stage and come back for an encore" thing proved U2 are real artists honing their craft everynight. No backing track that jumped the rail here, just the raw pure stuff you'd expect from the best band in the world.
Having seen every U2 tour since the November night in 1981 when I witnessed their coming to amercia at the Hollywood Paladium, last night was no disappointment. Bono worked the crowd, Larry and Adam thumped the rythmn beat all night and Edge, well was Edge. Always in the rarest of forms. They boys mixed it up quite a bit, played like the enjoyed it and didn't ask the crowd to beg for more...they just came at us over and over without repreave. Three shows in and the set list is a moving target, no thats Rock'n'Roll!
Thanks for a memorable night. See you on Saturday.
