I attended the April 1 show in Anaheim. The first set (the first hour before a five minute break) was superb. In fact, it was the best set I've ever seen. I'm 45 and I've seen a lot of good shows over the years. They played an array of their best songs and included only two off their latest album. It was one beautiful song after another with no slowdown in intensity. The quality of play was phenomenal. Everyone in the audience was spellbound and enjoying themselves at an incredible level. Many were stunned at the quality that was being displayed.
After the five minute break I knew it couldn't last. It probably could if they would have played Bad, Desire, Walk On, and Signs and Wonders (one of my favorites from Atomic Bomb). Alas, the band couldn't keep the intensity going and the second set felt like one long encore. Fittingly, they didn't play an encore. Walking off without even taking a bow.
It was a short show with only 1:45 minutes of actual playing time. They started at 9:05 and the last song was really over at 10:50.
This could have been special, perhaps one of the best shows ever. In hindsite, the intensity of that first set is something I will always remember. It was well worth the $400 ticket price.
