I traveled over 7000 miles from Sydney Australia to see my first U2 gig in 7 years (POP), seeing the Irish lads have been afraid of our OZY sun!
I had a GA ticket & was up on the barrier. Sweet....or was it a case of "faraway, so close"???
Kings of Leon "Rocked".....however, most in the crowd wanted to "rock" them. Unfair....
The lights dimmed, & LOVE & PEACE comes on. This song needs to be the tour opener....full stop!!! This song "is" the "BOMB" in the album name.
The boys put it on, song after song. The whole set was bigger than any "encore" could deliver. The energy was fantastic to witness comming from the stage. The Stage, the stage!!! Overall a concept that wont be topped in an arena for a while to come. The new songs were delivered well, & the mixing of sets on this tour has been a treat.
Bono's political messaging was also a standout and was worked exceptionally into the setlist. However, I did see Larry role his eyes once!!!!
People can overanalyse a U2 gig. Sound, Bono's voice, mistakes, song choice etc. Yet regardless of any flaws in the above, the 4 guys in the band are there "naked" onstage each night, facilitating the "best night" in each of our lives until the next tour roles into town....
whenever that is for us Ozzy's....
