Unbelievable!! One of the best U2 shows I have ever seen (and I've seen over 40 U2 shows dating all the way back to 1982). This ranks up their with their 1983 appearance at the LA Sports Arena for the war tour (Bono left the main stage during Electric Co. and jumps to the floor from the terrace - along with 20 or 30 fans). It also rivals their Washington DC shows for Zoo TV and the finale of Zoo TV at Anaheim stadium. Yes their have been some incredible shows, but this rivals them all.
Why? Sheer passion and intensity. Although just the fourth show of the tour, the band is clearly starting to hit its stride. Historically U2 have been slow tour starters, so I was a little disappointed when the tickets went on sale for the LA shows. I thought, too close to the beginning of the tour. Oh how I was wrong. This show was one to behold. The set list was stunning and paced great. The show was so energetic that I was exhausted by about the eighth song.
Hearing "Electric Co." and "An Cat Dubh" again was a delight. Clearly, this is a tour that is highlighting The Edge again. Beautiful guitar playing that fills up the entire arena.
On any given night, U2 demolishes their competition. Even a mediocre U2 show is better than a great show by any other band. Great U2 shows are magical. This was magical and lifted the spirits. A show for the ages!
