Though Denise, Andrea and I sat in the upper deck of the Arrowhead Pond, the concert was certainly a legitimately awesome U2 experience.
The set list (as soon as someone better than I posts it) was impressive, touching upon all of the greatest U2 albums, but weighing heavily upon War, Achtung Baby, and of course, Joshua Tree.
Pop Mart veterans will notice the practical simplicity of the set, as the world-record setting television background, 80-foot high yellow arc, and rotating lemon, are replaced by a lonely heart-shaped stage, encircling a main platform inside. Directly above are four video panels, each following the individual performers every move.
Bono and the 'world's biggest rock band,' played a well-balanced mix of songs spanning all their albums, managing to satisfy fan inside the sold-out venue. Two encores were played, extending the main setlist by about 45 minutes.
One big criticism, however, the acoustics in the nosebleeds sucked as bad as the losers sitting next to us who sat throughout most of the concert and left before a final encore that include "One" and "Walk On." I'm sure I'll see a completely different light when I return Thursday with General Admission Floor tix.
