U2 was simply "Awesome" last night during their first show at the Pond. The crowd was really into it from the outset and Bono kept the electricity going all night. I have seen the band in both outdoor and indoor settings, and by far, they are much better in a more intimate setting like last night. There were no fancy props, just pure U2 rock and roll. Not one person in the whole arena sat down for the 2 hour and 15 minute show. The band opened with Elevation with the house lights still on. They also played Kite, which sounded great live and Stay, which was a nice surprise as well. U2 brought the house down with Bad and Where The Streets Have No Name, with Bono running around the catwalk like he was doing wind sprints. Of the new songs, New York and Walk On, which was the last song of the night, sounded great live. U2 has definitely regained their stature as one of the great rock and roll bands of our lifetime.
