Today is April 25, and tomorrow is the final night of U2's three-night stand at the Pond in Anaheim. I will be there, just as I was two nights ago on the 23rd. I will admit, I have mostly HATED their song selection since ZOO TV, but that did not stop me from seeing them twice in Philadelphia in September of 1992; I did, however, skip the POPMart tour, and I am glad I did. But, on Monday, I found myself touching the roof of the Pond (figuratively and literally!), and once again I did not like the overall set list. But two days later, I can say this: "Kite" has not left me, nor has "Stay (Faraway, So Close!)". It will be a LONG time before I forget the vision of Bono and Edge singing the latter at the base of the heart. I will also never forget the feeling of own heart dropping into my stomach when Bono announced, "This is a song we've only done once before...this is Kite." After seeing the bulk of the setlists on this site for the first dozen shows, I was less than thrilled to be going. After I heard "Kite," I could have left it all behind and left the building; that's how high I was. My feelings of thankfulness were augmented when I saw the setlist of 4/24; thank God I wasn't there! They should bury "Sunday Bloody Sunday," "The Ground Beneath Her Feet," "Mysterious Ways," and dig up "A Sort of Homecoming," "The Unforgettable Fire," "I Threw A Brick/A Day Without Me" and a FULL version of "40"!!
