Well... it's the ninth time I've seen them. All the tours since Joshua Tour and... (gulp) ... I'm afraid this would rank ninth on my list. For the first time I have to say it: "I'm a little disappointed".
The sound was awful (not their fault. It's always horrible in that barn of a building). Bono's voice was the worst I've ever heard it (must have "given 'er" too hard in LA). The stage was (IMO) too big - I was near the front and I found myself searching for the band ("now where's Adam at?"). There was zero spontaneity (this has become more and more a complaint of mine over the years). It just lacked that MAGIC that always seems to accompany a U2 concert. Even the crowd (where I was standing) sucked - everyone was bitching at each other for getting in each others space, not letting people by, etc).
There WERE pleasant surprises - for one - my favorite song of the evening was one that I despise - "Ill Go Crazy...". Very fun! The concert had moments... but they were just a little too few and far between. And now I feel a bit sad :(
