First, I want to say that the concert was absolutely amazing! The stage was truly impressive, sound was awesome, and the band was on fire. Bono really put his heart and soul into this show, as he always does. This was my 7th u2 show, and it didnt fail to impress. It was awesome!
Highlights for me were - Until the end of the world (always a fav), Sunday Bloody Sunday, Mysterious ways. It was cool to hear ultraviolet live the first time too, and his jacket and microphone was really neat. Streets always gets me totally crazy, and of course, the buildup in that song is one of the coolest things I can experience. This was also the first time I heard "Still havent found" live, and it was so cool! Surprisingly, my favorite song was the remixed version of Dont go crazy - WOW!! The beat, the lights, the screen, the bongo - it was amazing!! MLK was cool too. Oh -and the presentation before the encore was very moving, and the perfect segway into the first song of the encore - one. Very cool!
My one setback to the show was probably the overall setlist. I know that the band can never fully satisfy everyone, and I am so appreciative of whatever they play. Every song is amazing. However, I wish they didnt play so much from All that you cant leave behind. Its a great album, but a quarter of the show came from this album, and the songs dont move me as much as the songs from The Unforgettable fire all the way up to POP. Zooropa, Rattle and Hum (great album, although the critics were hard on it), and POP were completely ignored, which was a bit of a drawback for me. Of course I love whenever they play anything from Achtung and Joshua Tree, and am happy that we had 7 songs from these two albums. Two songs less from All that you cant leave behind, and two songs more from 90s and 80s material would have been great. Im also not a huge fan of unknown caller.
Overall, awesome show. Amazing, as always. Looking forward to Edmonton in June, and possibly Toronto in July!! Pics to come.
