Great concert tonight from the boys! 29 years ago on this date 9.25, the guys got together in Larry's kitchen to talk about the band. Bono mentioned tonights significance and drew rousing cheers from the capacity crowd. Old favorites like Electric Co. and Sunday Bloody Sunday brought the crowd to their feet. Once Bono forgot the words to the song that he was singing… The Edge helped Bono during Who’s Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses by telling him what the opening verses were, prompting quips from Bono. And a different time saw Bono starting too soon on a song. During With or With You, Bono brings a young fan up onto the ellipse, who proceeds to hug our man, during the entire song. Two encores, with the final playing Yahweh and then ending the entire night with “40”.
Rarities tonight include The First Time and Miss Sarajevo –in which Bono nails the operatic mid-section! U2 delivered their favorites with a great variety of older songs intermixed with their latest hits. How many other bands who wrote songs in the early 80’s are still alive and playing to capacity crowds today?
