"Thank you Berlin for building this set, it's the best," Bono said before Sunday Bloody Sunday. And he was right. The Brandenburg Gate was a magnificent backdrop for what was a wonderful half hour. Bono even rapped a bit during Sunday Bloody Sunday. Not that the music or the band performance were anything to complain about, but the real star of the night was the light show, put together just for this event. The atmosphere was peaceful, the crowd cheered along and one could see thousands of happy faces afterwards even though it was so short. Consequently the band grabbed the award for Best Live Act at the EMAs a couple of hours later.
