Having been to BOTH of the Manchester concerts I wanted to let you all know what a fab time I had!
Tues : The Bravery & Snow Patrol. I thought both acts were amazing - but felt incredibly sorry for the Bravery when the power cut out twice mid song! Once it was fixed I thought they were amazing - although not many people were there to see it. Snow Patrol blew me away - a great live band.
Wed: Idlewild & Athlete. I felt these 2 were not as good as the acts the previous night, but they did a good job - although the crowd was rather impatient for U2.
I was very disappointed in the crowd size on Tues night. It only looked half full - and having been trying to get tickets for this 'sold out' event for ages I was rather angry. Especially when the touts outside were selling tickets off at £5 in desperation! Although it does please me that the touts would have made losses!!! (And again, on Wednesday they were selling tickets at the Stadium....)
Tues : I had a seated ticket & Wed: a standing ticket. There is no comparison!!!!!!!!!
We got there @ 2pm to get access to the restricted front stage. We managed it - although the staffing and organisation there was really poor - they didnt seem to have a clue?? Anyway, stress was over - got front row places. And the rest of the show blew me away!!!!!!!!!!!
GREAT SONGS. GREAT ENERGY BY THE BAND. STUNNING LIGHTS (and the mobile phone effect). GREAT SET LIST & it was great to see them soooo close.
It was my 1st time seeing U2 and it was the best concert I have ever been to. AMAZING.
One final note: whoever had the brainwave to restrict the M56 to 1 lane for lane painting after the concert needs **?!**?! It was the only downer of the night!!!!!!!
LONG LIVE U2!!!!!!!!!!
