You've seen my review for the first...well the second concert was even better. I will always remember it, for a number of reasons.
Slow Dancing. Bono started out by saying that they had only played this song a couple of times live, and for the real fans in the audience, this was a rare treat, and worked amazingly.
Although rain had been forecast for both days, we didn't see a drop until about 2 thirds of the way through concert #2 (Further perpetuating the God/Bono rumor). As the rain started to come down, to my amazement Bono started to sing the first bit of the Beatles' Rain. I'll never forget it, as I'm also a huge Beatles fan.
Discotheque was incredible again (who would've thought...) To put this into perspective, my friend and guest at the concert, who is not a fan, said this: "I hate the song. But seeing and hearing it live made it really interesting, and worth listening to."
Miami/Bullet the Blue Sky were visually and musically scathing, boiling, and emotionally charged, as Bono strutted the stage as the "tough Irishman". As the lights came to a point in the sky, highlighted by the sprinkling of rain, and Bono jumped into his rant..."ONE HUNDRED...TWO HUNDRED..." I thought the crowd was going to burst.
At the very end of the concert, as the rain had stopped, and the real (I'm talking ferocious) rain storm was about to hit, as One was about to finish up, lightning accentuated U2's show, as a huge bolt lit up the sky. U2 hit Edmonton like thunder and lightning, smashing down suddenly, making a lot of noise, charging up the city, then flying away...
