Great show to close it out... although my particular section (lower level, behind the stage to the left) had no energy... lots of people sitting down. But I got over that... I wasn't gonna let them ruin it for me.
For a quick review...
The Beastie Boys and Michael Stype were in attendance...
Walk On was dedicated to the Gay community and to U.N. Secretary General Kofi Annan, who Bono said was in attendance...
Daniel Lanios was back once again, playing The Ground Beneath Her Feet, and :gasp: WILD HONEY...
Bono changed the words to Sunday Bloody Sunday a tad... I believe it was at the part where he's supposed to sing "And the battle's yet be-gun"... He turned around and saw Edge getting a new guitar from his roadie, and sang perfectly in key with the song "Edge is changing his gui-tar"...
The floor was hoppin', but the rest of the audience was farely tame compared to the Garden shows. While there were quite a lot of people in the crowd jumping up in down like a lunatic (like myself), there were a decent amount of people that would sit down durring the slow songs. At the MSG show I went to Tuesday, there wasn't a soul in the building that wasn't on there feet the entire show...
Bono once again did his John Lennon / Mark Chapman rant at the end of BTBS...
There was someone in a wheel chair with an IV and a fully uniformed nurse smack in the middle of the heart. I found that quite odd...
Bono got an Irish flag to be passed down from the Upper Deck, through the crowd, down to the stage durring Sunday Bloody Sunday. An American flag was also tossed down, but alas, it never made it...
In A Little While was dedicated to Joey Ramone once again...
Walk On was dedicated to the Jubilee 2000 movement, and also to Bill Clinton, who Bono said was in attendance. Bubba got a huge cheer, I flipped him the bird
Overall, while this show won't go down in the anals of U2 history as one of the most remarkable shows they've ever did, it was nonetheless a very good show indeed. The Garden show Tuesday was 4 out of 4 stars, the Tour Finale in Jersey i'll give a 3 out of 4. Have fun Europe... we warmed the boys up for ya', and now it's your turn to elevate your SOULS.
