This was my 3rd show this tour (both MCI's) and was by far the best one yet. Unbelievable energy from the GA section. I saw some folks sitting in the stands, which I couldn't really understand, but it didn't stop me from dancing and screaming like a freak. Like all the other shows, Streets was amazing, as was the Fly and I will Follow. Any band that can play a song 20 years after it was first released and have it sound just as good is worth seeing again and again. Simply outstanding. You could tell Bono's voice was fading, but the fact that Edge can jump in and have it flow so smoothly tells you something about the talent of this band.
Highlights for me were the Mark Chapman rant at the end of Bullet, (why on earth are people STILL clapping for the Charlton Heston scene!?) extra verses in WOWY, and of course hearing Bono say "We're going to try a song we've never played live before...this is Wild Honey". The crowd was fantastic (except for the five or six people near me that kept passing out and needing to be excorted through the heart alleyway) and even if they play the exact setlist in the fall, I plan on seeing them as much as possible. GA is the way to do it.
My only complaint of the evening is the same as everyone elses...no end of tour encore. I know they gave it all, but how great would it have been to see Bono come back out and just bust into 40? Just to give us something extra. Oh well, I still woke up this morning wishing I was going again tonight. Only a few more months...hope I can make it!!
