Well, this is my last Elevation Concert I will attend and once again I got elevated.
There were so many great things about this show I could write a book. My biggest highlight was getting to spend the day with my cousins and I feel so much closer to them than I ever have before. We bonded like never before, from arriving at the lot at 11:15 am till the end of the show.
Another great thing about waiting in line from early in the morning is meeting my U2 family from all over the country....meeting someone from Tennesee...Karen from Philly who I also met on Wednesday, this was her 115th U2 show and she was a great person as well as her boyfriend Jim....what a day we had..
Here is my only complaint...those stupid security guards that ruined the wait...what were they thinking? The desided not to respect the fan based numbers for GA and made total chaos of the situation. THe worst thing about this is that people with GA's who had gotten there at 6 pm were able to get inside the heart while those that spent the night or came early were shut out of the heart. To the security guards you deserve a great big BOOOO. But, I wasn't going to let these people ruin a Beautiful but cold Day!
Anyway, not in the heart this time but that was fine, we were just outside the heart close to the entrance way to the heart where the Edge comes out at the right of the stage...the view was great and enjoyable....
Once again there was a buzz in the arena..."all you need is love" on and the anticipation started growing..."Seargent Pepper" starts playing, my heart starts beating faster....then "Elevation" and bang...a great concert has started....
I won't go into each song...we all know what they were...but, some of my highlights....at the end of "Beautiful Day" Bono acknowleding my cousins Sarajevo Loves U2 sign, what a great feeling that was....
Another memory, just as Wednesday night, a good guy and a true fan, Dan (sorry for calling you Sean on my review for Wednesday) was taken up on stage to help sing "Stuck in a Moment" with Bono...and the best moment was when Bono bowed down to him and Dan bowing down to Bono at the same time! What a great feeling....and Dan, I'm happy you were able to get into the Heart and didn't get shut out!
Bono telling us about his visit to ground zero and his sadness and anger to what he saw down there you could feel...especially with what I think was one of the great speaches he ever made about religious fanatics right before please...saying that "these people put their OWN adgenda ahead of other human beings..." was incredible and then getting angry over the fact that it was some person who grew up in a well to do middle class family is what gets him even more angry (and obvious shot at Bn Laden). Then he goes into "please"....WOW...very deep, very true...
OF course "One" was a great highlight for me, and that song has a completely new meaning to me....the names of all the vitims of terrorism on the Airplane flights....and of course our heroes from the NYPD and the FDNY who gave up their lives to save others, was a great moment....once again, not a dry eye in the house....
Of course, right before the encore, Bono, turning his jacket inside out to show the American flag and draping it on the mic and hanging an NYPD hat on it made for a powerful message....sometimes you just don't need words to tell a story and that told it all....
Finally during "Walk On" when he wore an FDNY shirt that belong to one of the dead firemen....he said his name, he was from Brooklyn...and then he said..."He lost his life at the twin towers but I know he is watching from Heaven right now...and we will see you soon...but not yet..." and then he goes into "Haleluiah" was very touching....
My last Elevation concert was a very memorable one and I will hold on the the memories I have of this tour for a long time to come....4 shows in total an all had different meanings....what a Beautiful Day" and time...
Thank you U2 for Elevating us...and giving us hope and joy! Well done...you guys deserve a rest!
