My 6th Elevation show (and first of the last leg) was at Meadowlands Sunday night.

A good show, but not a great show. And it was very creepy driving past NYC on the way in and not seeing the Towers. Very sad.

I hadn't seen U2 since the last Meadowlands show in June, so I was anxious. I'm a big fan, so being away from U2 that long was tough. You can only get so much out of listening to the same boots over and over and over (I highly recommend 8-25 Dublin. What a show, gang).

I was happy with the NJ show, but I didn't walk away amazed or anything. In fact, 6-11 Philly was a better show (and not just because I was up against the rail at the tip of the heart).

Don't get me wrong, it was still a great show. Bono was fantastic. I thought he might lose his voice after 3 straight MSG gigs, but he sounded awesome. And Edge was great. What a great sound coming out of his amps on this tour .... the scratch guitar, the feedback, the reverbs. Simply fantastic.

Speaking of feedback ... during Bullet, his amp was making freaky noises and twice, Dallas had to come on stage to tweak. Anyone else notice that?

Disappointments ... only a few. Bummer they dropped Mysterious Ways. That's such a great live song, with Edge wailing at the end and the screens popping up and down. I missed that.

And why did they drop The Fly? I was so pumped when they added that song for the tour, but when they dropped it at the end of the Euro leg, I was peeved.

Likes .... several, most notably Please with Bono and Edge at the tip of the heart. Before Bono started in, he told us that they hadn't played this song in a while. We got really excited. I thought they were going to play Gloria or Two Hearts, or something.

But Please was great. It's amazing how quickly the words come back to you when you're standing there singing along at the top of your lungs!

More likes .... Full band version of Angel was pretty cool. Nice to hear Still Haven't Found, too. All I Want is You was nice (although Bad always does the trick), but it didn't seem like the crowd was into it much.

That went into Streets. Holy sh*t! ... I've been waiting 5 months to see those lights pop on. And I was not disappointed. You lose your mind for those 5 minutes. It's like an out-of-body experience.

Again, a good show. Not a great show. I was hoping to see NYC firemen on the stage during Walk On, but no such luck. And I thought the place would go bonkers and basically force them to come back out and play Out of Control. But after Walk On, a lot of people got up and left, and the cheering died down quickly.

6 down, 1 to go ..... Philly on Friday. Golden Circles seats, 8 rows from Edge. I'm trying not to think about it much because it should be an all-timer. Keeping my fingers crossed for Bad and Out of Control.

What a tour. Just can't get enough of it.

Hey, did anyone else dislike Stereophonics? PJ Harvey was so great. I watched all 6 of her sets. But Stereophonics were not good. And to make matters worse, right in the middle of their set, they played back-to-back love songs. Ugh.

Thanks.

JEFF
