This was the sixth U2 concert for my wife and I and the second for this tour. My wife and I were at the May 7th show in Chicago and we thought that they were kind of off that night. However, we were very excited about seeing them in our home town and having floor tickets for the first time.
Besides the malfunctioning lights during "Vertigo", this was a far superior performance than the Chicago show we were at. Being ten feet from the stage made a difference too. It was great to be able to see the band without the aid of the TV monitors. It is a sureal experience when you see them right in front of you. As my wife said during "City of Blinding Light", "Oh my God, it really is Bono!" She was also excited to see Larry, her favourite, up close for the first time during "Love and Peace or Else".
I didn't get the impression from the floor that the crowd in Ottawa was not into the show like other reviewers have stated. Every time I looked up into the stands I saw the crowd on their feet.
Arcade Fire was also a nice surprise. I recognizd their song "Wake Up" and remembered from the Chicago show that U2 uses it to open their concert.
