Going into the concert I wore my heart on my sleeve having read some of the reviews of Fridays gig, comments about the four playing as individuals and not as a band and of Larry looking like a thundercloud. Could it all go wrong?
NO! From the moment U2 kicked into Vertigo it was obvious that this was a special night. This was the night where everything was going to add up into one giant whole. After having perhaps being a bit awed over the reception on Friday (so I heard), Bono & co. had decided to party tonight. They were all running around smiling - even Larry had a huge grin on his face :-). And it transformed to the music, which was tight and at the same time with a lot of spare energy. They were thoroughly enjoying themselves up there.
Highlights were in abundance, but if I have to mention two it would be "Sometimes you can't make it on your own", where it seemed like Bono was signalling to Bob "Hey, old guy! I did good, didn't I", and "Streets..." with 80.000+ fans singing the song from end to finish. Also the Canadian fan brought up to play guitar on Party Girl was indicative of a show, where everything just went right.
Having been at both Zoo TV, Popmart and Elevation shows previously, this fantastic night in their home town tops it all. It's the best I have ever seen and heard.
...speaking of heard...the sound was BRILLANT from the upper tier where I was sitting.
