Yep....my first U2 gig as well. It's weird looking back now, 20 years on, how much Dublin has changed since then. It's a different world.
Memories from the gig.....Edge's daughter ran across the stage just before the band came on (she could only have been three); Irish DJ Dave Fanning did the intro - "They have their clothes on tonight" (two days earlier a radio interview with Fanning had culminated with band members and Fanning stripping); Typical Irish summer day - grey sky; A Sort of Homecoing was special; the guy on the roof was hilarious; Bono trying to get the crowd to stay quiet during Spinghill.
As I said, it was a different era. I've seen the band many times since but it's still hard to reconcile the two U2's that played the same venue 18 years apart. In 87 most fans were under 20, in 05 it was mainly the over 30s.
