Well, I was quick to criticise where criticism was due on Friday night regarding the acoustics. So, it is only right and proper that I give praise where praise is due and, boy, was praise due for the Monday show?!
When "All Because of You" was rolled out second song in, you knew it was going to be special and that was certainly the case.
"An Cat Dubh", "Into the Heart", "Gloria" - first time hearing any of these live and what great, strong songs they are too. Absolutely excellent.
As the guy before me in this review section said, getting "Original..." was pure heaven and "Bad" was even better - if there is such a thing!
OK it wasn't the full-blown "Wide Awake in America" 15-minute rendition, but it was great to get it.
"Sunday Bloody Sunday" included a poignant reference from Bono to the original Bloody Sunday, which took place in Croke Park and it was a little emotional thinking of that....
The "Achtung Baby" section was great and visually spectacular - respect to Willie and his team on this one and on a great show in general!
Just when you thought it was over (with the boys bowng to both the audience and the lighting guys in the rigging behind the stage), out they come again for Yahweh and (yes!) 40. Great to see this one done live with, of course, all four leaving stage one-by-one leaving the man who started it all, the Artane Boy himself drumming in the stadium where his drumming career started all those years ago.
What can you say? The boys delivered in spades tonight. Long may they run!
Thanks Larry, Adam, Bono and Edge, Paul, Willie, Joe, Jake, Rocco, Sam, Dallas, Stuart and all who made it possible.
See you in Barcelona and "the Garden"....
