Was working in the Cusack Stand shops at this gig. Sweets and soft drinks were all you could get at Croke Park in those days. After doing a bunk the night before and dumping the days takings with other people we were nabbed to take the days takings back to the Hogan Stand this night. As we waited for clearance to go around the back of the stage we could hear the first 6 or 7 songs. It was terrible not being able to see them.
When we got clearance we were allowed walk by the bands dressing rooms and hospitality. What a trill. Money stached in the coffers of the GAA we went out to watch the end of the gig.
I remember Bono saying to the crowd "You must be sick of U2 by now". The crowd responded with a football style chant "U2 clap, clap, clap" if you know what I mean. Bono also asked a girl for a go of her "horn" he tried to blow it with little success.
Bono said at the end of the gig. "Don't forget this evening, We won't". We didn't.
