I was working in the shops at this gig. A long day watching a lot of drunk young people throwing up and passing out. Didn't see any of the support acts.
We closed the shops just before U2 cam on stage. The place was packed so we had to go right to the back of the Hogan Stand. The next hour and 45 mins were the beginning of an obsession with U2 which has lasted a generation.
Highlights for me were Sunday Bloody Sunday, Bad, October (Edge's amazing piano intro), Pride (50,000 fists in the air) and 40 (I sang this to my wife at the end of our wedding party).
I bought the bootleg of this gig and still have it to this day (10/12/2010). Going away from the concert my music tastes would never be the same again. One group and one group only. (Pretty sad actually, but hey!).
The appearance on Live Aid came three weeks later and the rest is History.
