Some thought we were crazy to wait in line at 6am Friday morning for the Salt Lake U2 concert... but boy were they wrong.
Even thought it was my first U2 concert ever (missed the Pop tour), I don't think I could or will have a better experience at a concert.
Josh, Megan, and I got wristbands for the heart and then went outside to the tip. We ended up right behind the guy who was there since Thursday morning for a PERFECT view of Bono and the Edge when they came out.
While we waited for No Doubt to come out we made a poster for Megan that read
"My Goal is Elevation to the stage!" and she put "BAD" on the back. We stood on top of it so we could get to it later... but it got totally ripped up!
I couldn't believe the energy in that building. I was so psyched when No Doubt was finally over (they did do a good job I guess)
and ELEVATION came on! I thought I lost my voice from screaming so much... after one song.
The Delta Center was packed with screaming fans. My heart was pounding song after song.
When Bono came to the tip and leaned out over the fans I was trying SO hard to reach out and touch him, but by that time, I was pushed back about 4-5 people from the tip, so my hand was literally 3 inches from him. Both Megan and Josh touched the singer of the Greatest Band on Earth.
I thought it was so perfect for a Utah concert to have a piano player up on stage jamming with Bono. David really was great. I can't believe he wasn't too nervous and could actually play (I don't know if I could have)
I couldn't believe it when Becca was up on stage grabbing Bono's butt... but even more unbelievable was that after putting her hand up on his shoulder... he turned around and grabbed her butt! All I could think was "I guess Bono's wife doesn't care..." but really I'm sure all the girls in that building were wishing they were up on stage in her place
I'm pretty tall so I had an awesome view, but I felt bad for some girls behind me and lifted one of them up on my shoulders twice (both times a guy came over and told me to put her down after a minute). Josh and I lifted this other girl (wish I knew her name) up too before we left to go inside the heart for the Encore.
My favorite songs of the night were Elevation, Bad, Walk On, Streets, Sunday Bloody Sunday, and Please.
Every time I hear the Edge play, I never want it to end. He is such a gifted guitar player... I don't even know who to compare him with.
Bono really did sum it up with "WOW!" I saw him mouth the words before he got to the microphone and then he said it again... wow.
