U2 Tours (formerly part of AtU2): A Comprehensive Guide To U2’s Live Performance History

I was one of the original U2 fans and brought Boy up to MSU in 1980. They came to E. Lansing for their October tour on December 7, 1981 to Dooley's Downstairs. This was the basement of a college bar with a semi-circular dance floor with an elevated level behind wrought iron 3 foot bars that had tables and chairs. The Producers opened and they were fantastic, but the floor wasn't crowded, so we stayed in the upper level for them, but loved Wayne Famous on the keyboards.

Before U2 came out, we talked to a big group of people who had seen U2 in Cleveland the night before. They drove all the way up to E. Lansing to see them again and told us that they were the best live band they'd ever seen. When U2 came out, we forced our way to the front of the stage. Bono (well actually all of them, but especially Bono) was a total dork, but he was so into his music that we all knew they were going to be huge stars. I won't comment on what I think of him or their music now, but I will tell you that it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.
