Earl's Court 19/8/01 will live long in the memory . U2 may have left Europe to head back to the States , but i for one am still trying to De-elevate !!
This was my 10th or so show of the tour and as ever i was camped outside the Venue from the early hours . When the doors open , i ran in and assumed a position directly in front of Bono . A few American friends planted themselves either side of me . During Mysterious Ways the girls with me on the rails all produced American Dollar Bills , trying to gain Bono's attention , eventually he noticed and plucked a Dollar from the 'Bonoholic' next to me and tucked it into his hip as if a lapdancer accepting cash , hilarious and brought a broad smile from Bono and Adam !!!
Better was to come , when they came back out for One/Walk On , i yelled up to Bono 'Angel Of Harlem' , he looked down at me shouted back 'What' , again i repeated the request , and then started singing the opening line , until he caught the jist of what i was screaming .
A full band version of Angel ensued ( first time ever all 4 band members on the main stage , as Lovetown was with BB King Band & Zoo TV / Popmart was acoustic with 'bongo' drums ) then finally at the end , he looked down on me , pointing and said 'for the gentleman at the front ' . A great night !!
p.s. Out of Control was immense ......
