I watched Pop two times.
The first day I arrived at 2 pm and waited until 9:45 pm to feel my spirit envolved by U2's sounds. I was alone (left my boyfriend in the hotel). Yes, I needed to be alone. It was a kind of ritual for me, a brazilian girl that had waited 15 years to see Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam so closed... Dreams are part of us. I had to be alone to realize that. Know, the satisfaction I'm feeling shows how it was important to me to be there.
I became very proud of that boys that I learned to love when I listened songs like "October" and "Stories for Boys". When I listened the fist time A Sort of Homecoming I was just twelve years old. Since then, I've been dreaming to be in front of that ireland musicians to say Thank you very much!
In Sampa, I became very proud of them, principally when I felt all that brazilian people singing with Bono. Sometimes the musics made me remember many differents moments of my life. One, for example, made me remember when I left my husband, two years ago. Suddenly, I looked at me and felt that I was crying and laughing at the same time: a feeling that is dificult to explain...
U2 is emotion and blood shaking in our veins everyday, every night, every minute. Like samba... Like our Salgueiro in Carnaval, just like our way of life. I can perfectly undestand what Bono felt when remembered at TV, that always wanted to visit Brazil. Our country is very hot, our rhythms are very hot, our heart and all our body are very hot. Our love for U2 is an unforgettable fire!
At the second day, I was not so near the guys. The "big TV" made me change many concepts of art.
I work in a paper in Brasilia and I'm preparing a project to try the PhD at the University of Brasilia (Universidade de Brasilia). Those images associated with songs like Lemon and Bullet the Bleu Sky help me to be secure and go ahead with my ideas.
But the biggest gift I received happened in february 1, at 4 am, when I could see Bono, The Edge, Larry and Adam really in front of me. They arrived at the hotel and came to talk with some fifteent or twenty peolple that was waiting for them in the steet. It rained. But they came to say thanks and "Obrigado" (in Portuguese).
It was dificult to believe, but they was there: in front of me!
This story shows how they are special and how they respect us. There was no time to say anything. Now, the only word I have to say is thank you! We are waiting U2 again! While I wait, I study Pop Mart to include its lights in my project for the university. Thanks U2! Congratulations, guys! See you!
