This was my fourth U2 concert having seen the first one back in 1989 and I think they keep getting better and better. They are certainly more polished than ever. I thought there last tour, Vertigo, was their best yet but I am happy to say that this tour tops that. I think the reason it is their best so far is mainly due to the stage set up and the fact that they have really choreographed a whole performance and thought of all the finer details, such as the moment the two bridges meet and Bono on one bridge reaches out to The Edge on the other.
Bono shows that he still has it! He has such an energy about him that really gets the crowd involved. I was fortunate to be near the front and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else! The atmosphere was electric. It was good to see the other band members also getting into it more than they did in the early days.
I think the band looked really happy with the energy of the audience and our great sing-a-longs!
Highlights for me were .....well every song really!! I couldn't fault them, although I would have preferred that they ended with a song I was more familar with.
I was glad that Bono didn't preach as much as he has in the past but he still manages to get across some heartfelt messages. The tribute to Michael Hutchence was touching as was the acoustic version of "stuck in a moment".
What I like about U2 concerts is that you really feel the lyrics and music of each song and you walk away feeling uplifted and inspired. They keep taking concerts to a whole new level and setting the benchmark for other artists to aspire to.
All in all a great concert, great crowd and well worth the trip
from Adelaide and the $100 ticket price! A great memory to hold onto forever.....
