Overall the show was very good, the only negatives being a product of the venue really.
Great stuff: the band - they looked like they were all having a blast - the energy was great. The set list was really good - as other posters said they made room for some older material and it was great (from what we could hear - see below). I will say that I've seen other set lists from other shows and am a bit jealous - the set lists appeared to include MORE songs than we got last night, including a few other "classics" that were absent from last nights show. I love the way they blended some other songs into the mix - "stand by me" for one. The visuals - stage and lights tremendous - something to behold!
So-so stuff: not familiar with Muse, but I heard enough to at least pique my interest.
Horrible stuff: SOUND in upper decks! Miserable! The acoustics in FedEx Field are horrible - unfortunately for those of us in upper decks, the echoes from every surface of the stadium created such a din that both music and vocals were horribly muddled. Lyrics and speaking by Bono were completely unintelligible - bottom-end bass and bass drum overpowered higher end guitar, keys, and cymbals based on acoustics. Many folks around us, including couple we went with, left early because of the sound. Folks were constantly asking each other all around us "what did Bono just say?" and "does the sound suck over next to you too?". FedEx's own sound system was not tapped unfortunately -- it could have balanced the sound and given the upper decks something to listen to. We could SEE great things, and could tell lower level and field were HEARING great things and rockin' out -- but experience up high completely different. Live and learn -- get low and close! Other negative: parking. The company hired to manage parking at FedEx is the worst you'll ever see - more confusion and ineptness is not possible.
Overall - we KNOW it was a great show, but the venue sort of killed it for us. Now I want to go to another show to get the REAL experience!
