Given their fairly poor SNL performance (especially Bono's vocals), I was somewhat concerned that their best touring days were behind them. However, I was extremely impressed with the performance last night and am happy that they are still going full throttle. The spectacle of the stage goes without saying, but Bono's vocals and the band's energy made for a great show - notwithstanding the reserved DC crowd.
7th time I've seen them (going back to '87) and this is probably the best I've seen them play. Also nice to see them dust off a few oldies, especially Unforgettable Fire. I was fortunate enough to make it into the inner circle, which has the feel of a 500-person club venue. The interaction between the band members from this vantage makes for a real treat. They clown around more than you'd think and clearly are having a great time...like the rest of us.
